Bumpkins Dachshunds was born in 2004 as a mother/son project so my son could raise funds for college. After much research, he and I started our project with a beautiful long haired red brindle dachshund named Lady from a dear longtime breeder in Pataskala, Ohio. Dear Carolyn, who passed away in 2016, took us under her wing and was wonderful in providing us with breeding help and advice.

Lady was our introduction to dachshunds, and we were hooked! Couch potatoing, puppy raising, and rodent hunting in the woods were her passions in life. She took her passions very seriously, and we loved it! Several years and litters later, Lady retired from puppies but not her other 2 passions, ruling the couch and the woods. My son graduated from high school, and I took a break from raising puppies, but went back to it after a few years.

Now all the members of my family including myself have their own dachshund. Most of my kids have moved to their own homes and built families of their own, but dachshunds remain the breed of choice for each of them including my son who has his own breeding project.

Each of our mama dachshunds is a member of our family and lives with us as beloved pets. They rule the sectional couch in our living room with its puppy chewed corners. Sometimes it gets a bit messy around here, but I love it! I look forward to each litter and care for them as my own. Each year and each litter I learn new lessons about breeding and life with my sweet girls.
